Lexy Determan joins the MacMurray Athletics Department as Head Softball Coach and Sports Information Director. Determan spent the last two years as an Assistant Softball Coach and Administrative Assistant at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Determan was part of a coaching staff at Iowa Wesleyan College that led the team to a fourth-place finish last spring at the USCAA National Championships. As the team's pitching coach, she coached a 1st-Team USCAA All-American in 2013.
Determan brings an impressive softball background with her to MacMurray College. She had an outstanding prep career at Graettinger-Terril High School (IA), where she was a five-year starter in softball. Determan was selected to an All-State Team in each of those five years, including First Team All-State accolades in her junior and senior years. In addition to her softball career, Determan was also a multiple-year letterwinner in Volleyball, Track, and Basketball. Determan played on the 2007 State Champion Basketball Team.
Determan starred collegiately as a freshman at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, where she had 21 wins on the season and broke the strikeout record with 261 strikeouts. As a sophomore, Determan transferred to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she went 19-2 with a 0.98 ERA. Determan played her final two seasons at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. While at Luther, the Norse posted a 45-6 record and made two consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III National Championships. Determan was a two-time All-Region Pitcher and received All-American honors in 2011. Determan also broke the single season strike-out record at Luther in the 2011 season as a senior.
Determan graduated from Luther College in 2011 with a degree in psychology and is currently working on her master's degree in sports psychology. Among her other activities, Determan previously served as Head Coach at Danville High School and as an assistant coach at Okoboji High School.
