Highlanders Fall 61-51 to Principia College

The MacMurray College women's basketball team shot a cool 29% from the field and dropped a 61-51 game Saturday afternoon at Principia College in a battle of previously winless teams.

The Highlanders trailed 25-24 at the half and connected on only one of ten 3-point FG attempts in the second half in the loss to the Panthers. Junior center Megan Duisen led the Highanders with nine points and eleven rebounds.  Cydny Saxer also had nine points and KayDee Carmody added eight points.

Freshman guard Rachel Perea had a huge game for Principia with twenty points, fourteen rebounds, eight steals and three blocked shots.

MacMurray falls to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in SLIAC play; while Principia improves to 1-5 and 1-1 in conference play.  The Highlanders will host the MacMurray College Classic Tournament next Friday and Saturday in Wall Gym.  The tournament begins with Greenville College playing St. Mary of the Woods College at 5PM and the Highlanders hosting Calumet College of St. Joseph at 8PM.
