The Highlander men’s basketball team went 1-1 this past weekend in Platteville, WI in tournament play.
The team was defeated by Wartburg College on Saturday, November 24th, 64-60. Wartburg College took a 30-22 lead at the half over the Highlanders. Mac shot 34.6% in the first half with eight turnovers.
The Highlanders rallied back in the second half, tying the score at the six minute mark. The score went back and forth until late MacMurray fouls allowed Wartburg to take the lead for good as they made three free throws in a row in the last ten seconds of the game.
Sophomore Clayton Whitlock totaled 17 points in the game while sophomore Spencer Pratt chipped in 11.
The team bounced back with a win against Lancaster Bible on Sunday, November 25th by a final score of 75-65.
It was a close game during the first half with the Highlanders up by one 42-41 at the end of the half. In the second half the Highlanders were able to dominate in the paint and took a 10 point lead that they never relinquished.
Clayton Whitlock led the Highlander offense again in back to back days with 23 points in the game. He also had eight rebounds. Spencer Pratt contributed 16 points in the contest. Congratulations to Clayton Whitlock on being selected to the All-Tournament team.
The team will open up SLIAC play on Wednesday, November 28th at Eureka College for a 8:00pm game against the Red Devils.
