Volleyball Earns First Victory of 2012 season

     The MacMurray College volleyball team snatched its first victory of the season on Saturday, September 15th with a win over Blackburn College in St. Louis, Mo.

     The team took the match 3-1 with final individual set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 25-5, and 25-15.  Senior Amy Radford led the Highlander attack with 13 kills in the contest while senior Taylor Soat chipped in with 12 kills.  Junior Sammy Petefish led the defense tallying 16 digs while freshman Alexa Boyer added 14 digs.  Boyer also helped out totaling 28 assists in the contests. 

     The Highlander volleyball team also faced Fontbonne University for their second match of the day, coming up short 3-1 against the Griffins.  Taylor Soat led the team with 13 kills while Sammy Petefish helped defensively with 22 digs. 

     The Highlanders will host Principia College on Tuesday, September 18th marking their first home match of the season.  The team will make their first game debut on the new floor of the Bill Wall Gymnasium.  The team has not played an official game in their own gym since November 1, 2010 due to the flood in the summer of 2011.
