The 2012-2013 Men's Golf team will be making huge strides this year. The new developed MacMurray College golf team has tons of potential to make noise early in the season. After having one of the best finishes in conference in the past decade in 2011, the team looks to keep pushing forward and be successful. “We had a very successful recruiting year and we look for our newcomers to carry us this season in what plans to be a great season.” The recruiting went well for the highlanders bringing in 5 new players, 4 in which are Freshman and a JUCO transfer from Lincoln. Jeremy Rolf, Lincoln College, will be a major part of the team who brings in a 74 average from his previous season at Lincoln. “Jeremy has the potential to be 1st team all-conference as junior.” Returning for the Highlanders will be sophmore Jay Winkleman. Jay was a key contributor for the 2011 team and looks to rebound with a chance at all-conference. Newcomers include Ryne Foster, Tarryn Link, Logan Woolridge, and Cory Cooper. These four players have the potential to rank up in the top 10 of our conference as freshman.
The schedule for the Men's team will begin on September 13th when the Highlanders will take on Lewis and Clark Community College at Lockhaven Community College. “This will be a huge test out of the gates for our players.” Lewis and Clark looks to be a national ranked team and to go out and compete will be a great start. The Highlanders will finish up the fall season with events at the Links on the 20th and 24th vs Illinois College. They will then travel to play in the UIS invite at Piper Glen on the 22-23. The team will host its annual Fall invite on September 30th at 10 a.m.
