The MacMurray College women’s basketball team will offer a basketball-skills summer camp for girls in grades three through eight.
The cost for those who register by June 1 is $60. After that date until the registration deadline on June 15, the cost will be $75.
The camp will be held Monday, June 23 through Wednesday, June 25, at the Bill Wall Gymnasium on the MacMurray College campus, with two sessions depending on the participant’s grade. Sessions for grades 3-5 are 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and the sessions for girls who have completed grades 6-8 will be 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on those days.
Individual instruction will taught by MacMurray coaches and current players. Each camper will receive a t-shirt for participation along with awards for competition.
The director of the camp is Derek James, second-year head coach for the Highlanders women’s basketball team. James is an inductee of MacMurray Hall of Fame and Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame member.
Camp days will feature correct warm-up and stretching routines for safety, ball handling drills, shooting drills, passing drills, free throw shooting, defensive lecture and drills, offensive skills and drills. There will be competitions in free throws, skills challenges and shooting, along with 3-on-3 segments to encourage playing.
