MacMurray College’s Breanne Pelker and Mason Rowe have been named the Highlander October Student-Athletes of the month.
Pelker, a junior volleyball player, was the Female Student-Athlete of the month. A middle hitter, Pelker led the Highlanders with 240 kills for the month and averaged 2.5 kills per set. She was ranked in the top 10 SLIAC leaderboard for blocks, kills, and hitting percentage.
Breanne is a junior Art Therapy major from Nashville, IL. She is the daughter of Walt and Karen Pelker.
The volleyball team finished 9-22 overall, and finished in 8th place in the SLIAC with a 5-13 conference record.
Rowe, a junior captain of the soccer team, was the Men’s Student-Athlete of the Month. MacMurray Head Coach Shane Taylor credited Rowe for anchoring the Highlander defense all season. Mason scored goals this year against Fontbonne University and scored a game-winning goal against Eureka College.
Rowe is a Business Administration major from Ottawa, IL. He is the son of James and Tammy Rowe.
The Highlander Men’s Soccer team finished with a 2-16-1 overall record, and tied for 8th place in the SLIAC with a 1-7-1 record.
MacMurray College Student-Athletes of the month are nominated by their respective head coaches and selected by a vote of the Student-Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC).
