Baseball

MacMurray College Baseball posted its best season in a decade in the spring of 2012. The Highlanders went a modest 14-23, yet this tied for the most wins since 2002. The 14 wins equaled the total from the past 3 years combined. First year Head Coach Andrew Bartman says, "Even though we finished below .500 I felt like we competed nearly every time out. We dropped 4 games in extra innings in SLIAC play, and 7 or 8 games by 2 runs or less. We were right on the brink of turning the corner in this first year." During Bartman's first year at the helm the Highlanders increased the roster size by 20 and the win total by 11. Numerous facility upgrades have been completed or are in the works, highlighted by a new scoreboard to be installed this summer and new fencing encompassing nearly 50% of the field and in front of the dugouts. Coach Bartman knows that this process is on-going but is not the type to wait. "I have learned a lot in this first year since coming back to Mac and am ready to make the adjustments necessary to take this program to the next level. Recruiting has been going well and I feel confident about the product we will put on the field and in the classroom in 2012-2013."
