Job Title:

Admissions Specialist

Hometown:

Quincy, IL

What do you like most about Mac?

The super cool people in the MacMurray Admissions department.  They are the people that I work with on a day-to-day basis, but all the other people at Mac can be thrown in there as well.  You’ll be hard pressed to find a friendlier, more helpful bunch than the people at MacMurray.

Favorite Jacksonville restaurant and why?

Luau Grill Island BBQ: it’s this tiny building off of Morton Avenue that you can easily miss but should be terribly sad if you do.  The beef brisket is great, and you should definitely try the BBQ nachos there.  On top of the great food, the guy that runs the place is super friendly.  It’s worth your buck to support a good guy and enjoy some great BBQ.

Advice to Prospective Students:

Visit all the colleges on your "short list" before you make a decision.  Good programs in your chosen field of study are many, but it is important that the college you choose has the right "feel."  Visit those schools and meet some of their people and you will have a better idea of whether or not you fit into that community.

Random Mac Fact:

The Mac colors come from the family tartan of the Murray Clan of Scotland.  They were allies to William Wallace during the Scottish wars for independence and remained a powerful Scottish family through the centuries.  Incidentally, when I picture our Highlander mascot, it’s more of a hairy, muscular brute from the middle ages than a smiling, clean shaven fellow.

Hobbies:

Reading, writing, hiking and camping, spending time with my wife and 3 kids.

You're on a desert island and have only brought the music of 3 artists/groups. Which do you choose?

Jethro Tull, the Talking Heads, and the Killers.
