Merit Scholarships and Awards for 2012-13

Type of Aid Available To * Amount Criteria
Presidential Scholarship First-Year Applicants Up to Full Tuition Trustee and Dean’s Scholarship recipients are invited to attend MacMurray College Scholarship Day to qualify. Participants compete for Presidential Scholarships valued up to full tuition. Must apply and be accepted by January 15, 2012.
Residential Fellows Scholarship First-Year Applicants Full Tuition Students will be eligible to compete in the Residential Fellows program if:
  1. they have a minimum 25 ACT composite score
  2. they are in the top 10% of graduating class.
In return for a service commitment and maintaining a 3.0 GPA, students will reside on campus with a single room at the double rate and can participate in 2 May Term or study abroad programs in addition to the full tuition scholarship. Must apply and be accepted by January 15, 2012.
Trustee Scholarship First-Year Applicants Up to $10,000 Core GPA of 3.25 or greater and ACT composite of 24 or higher (1100 SAT Critical Reading and Math or higher).
Dean’s Scholarship First-Year Applicants Up to $8,000 Core GPA of 3.0 or higher and ACT composite of 20 or higher (1030 SAT Critical Reading and Math or higher).
Endowed Scholarships First-Year Applicants Varies Awarded on a competitive basis according to guidelines set by the donor.
Founders Grant First-Year Applicants Up to $6,000 Students who have not been considered for other academic scholarships but demonstrate leadership qualities, co-curricular involvement, community service, and academic promise are eligible.
Lincoln Land Community College Partnership Scholarship Transfer Applicants Up to $8,000 Associate’s degree from Lincoln Land Community College with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Dr. Clarence McClelland Transfer Scholarship Transfer Applicants Up to $7,500 Students transferring from an accredited postsecondary school with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible.
Transfer Founders Grant Transfer Applicants Up to $6,000 Students transferring from an accredited post-secondary school with a GPA of 2.0 or higher are eligible.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Transfer Applicants $2,500 Member of Phi Theta Kappa; associate’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Awarded in addition to merit scholarships.
Peter Cartwright Church Matching Award Any Applicant Up to $1,500 As a Methodist-related college, MacMurray matches dollar for dollar any award given by a student’s local church.
Interfaith Matching Award Any Applicant Up to $1,500 MacMurray matches dollar for dollar any award given by a student’s synagogue, mosque, or temple.

*Merit scholarships and awards continue from one year to the next provided students remain enrolled full time and maintain appropriate academic progress.

**Core GPA and transfer GPA are MacMurray College-issued values at the time of admission.

Monticello Scholarship

The Monticello Scholarship was established in 1985 by Monticello College. One new $5,000 renewable scholarship will be awarded each year to a female freshman student who displays leadership ability and academic achievement. To apply, please submit an essay describing the above criteria to the Office of Financial Aid by April 6, 2012.

Lila Underwood Judkins ‘36 Scholarship

The Judkins Scholarship was established to support a deserving daughter of a Christian clergyman. One $15,000 per year renewable scholarship will be awarded this Fall 2012. The chosen student must maintain a cumulative 2.75 GPA or better to retain the scholarship support. She must also complete 15 hours of service to the MacMurray campus or community per semester.To apply, please submit the application (PDF) to the Office of Financial Aid by April 6, 2012.
