Faculty Biographical Sketches
Our faculty brings a broad range of educational and
professional experience to the classroom.
Nadine Szczepanski,
Ph.D.
Chair and Professor of Chemistry
Dr. Szczepanski worked as an analytical chemist
for the Illinois EPA after receiving her B.S. degree in Chemistry and
Psychology from MacMurray. She then earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry
from the University of Illinois at Chicago. After graduate school,
she worked as a product development chemist for Owens-Corning Fiberglass,
Avery and Mead Paper Company. While at Mead, she earned a U. S. Patent.
Special areas of interest include developing labs that use real world chemistry
as much as possible. She was a mentor for the U. S. team of the Chemistry
Olympiad program from 1999-2001 and 2004-5. She traveled with the team to
the International Chemistry Olympiad competition in Copenhagen, Denmark in July
of 2000, Mumbai, India in July of 2001, Kiel, Germany in July of 2004 and will
travel to Taipei, Taiwan in July of 2005.
